Respect the Halen
I grew up listening to bands like Van Halen and Def Lepard.
Something about it. I just loved the positivity and creativity that boomed out of the speakers when Eddie Van Halen would grace a guitar with his magic.
One of the things that I cover in some of my blogs is actually about the deaths of people in Hollywood and the music industry and how they seem to follow sort of a pattern.
The moon being at a certain phase and numbers lining up and so on…
I don’t want to say that I am used to seeing famous people drop like flies;
but when you compare how many famous people there are compared to the other ninety-nine point something percent of the population and then average how often people pass away (famous vs. everyone else) before they hit old age….
Well let’s just say the numbers are absolutely scary.
Anyway, when I heard about Eddie Van Halen passing away it definitely brought back memories of when I was a kid – and really did not have a care in the world.
And honestly when I did feel “down”, Van Halen and Def Leppard were good medicine-music.
There was definitely something special and super unique about the style of Eddie when he played guitar though.
He could make those strings sing. He took the sound that was produced by playing a guitar and he’d mold it in to sounds and melodies that just took you to a different place.
I’m sure many of you have gotten “lost in a song” before.
That doesn’t even begin to describe what some of Van Halen’s music did for me.
This is definitely off the trail of what I normally blog about but I wanted to give a final shout out to Eddie Van Halen – R.I.P.
Not sure if many of you have even heard of the following song which I have a link to blow but it IS Van Halen and it is absolutely amazing.
Ever seen the movie ‘Twister’?
At the very end of the movie when the credits begin to roll an amazing instrumental guitar solo type song plays.
I originally had the movie on good-old VHS cassette and I would rewind it or fast forward it to the beginning of the credits again and again and just listen to the song.
So without further ado, here is “Respect the Wind” by Eddie Van Halen. Enjoy!
